A RAILWAY TRAIN DERAILED.

Sydney, June 15. A serious accident occurred on the Coowa railway early this morning. The scene of the accident was near Goulburn, about 135 miles S.S.W. of Sydney. It was pitch dark in the early morning, when a mixed train, consisting of a large number of trucks and two carriages, eontaiuing 20 passengers, became partially derailed. The locomotive and several of the trucks rolled over o, shallow embankment, but fortunately the rear portion of the train, which included the passeDger carriages, remained on the track.

The driver, McGregor, was badly scalded along the back by the escaping steam. The fireman, Morris, had a most miraculous escape as he was imprisoned by the overturned trucks, and the debris had to be cut away before he could be released. He did not, however, escape scathless, as he received a Blight scalding and a few bruises. Although the passengers sustained a severe shock none were seriously injured, but there waa a considerable injury to the rolling stock. The accident is attributed to the fire box collapsing. Complete {derailment was only averted by the instant acting of the Westinghouse brake.
