Auckland, to day. William Lcarnwith, of Queen Street, was charged with two breaches of the Shops and Shop Assistants Act. The defendant pleaded " guilty." Mr Fergtisson Baid he found that girls worked on alternate days 10 and 14 hours, and on Saturday 1C hours.

Mr Northorofc, S M., fined defendant 5s on each charge and costs £4 7s.
