The home team batted first, and had lost one wicket for 33 runs when play was stopped for tho day by the rain, as the pitch was in a sodden state. S. McKenzie was dismissed without scorin". Iredale and Donnan were each not out with 16. VICTORIA V. TASMANIA. Melbourne, Jan. 25. A Victorian team began a match against a Tasmanian eleven to-day. The Victorians in their first innings scored 101. Tasmania lost nino wickets for 178. The chief scorers were Buan G6 and Savigny 37. Jan. 27.— 1n Saturday's game, Eady, of Tasmania, took eight of the Victorian wickets at a cost of 34 runs.
