Government has now under consideration tho question of obtaining the necessary general legislation for the preservation of scenery in the different parts of the colony, and .more particularly the scenery of the Maknri Gorge, Otira Gorge, Buller's Gorge, Kai Vftjley, and around the lakes in the South Island. ■
