Whakarewarewa.
Auckland, to-day. An important decision has been given by Judge Wilson in the Land Court at Rotorua with reference to the Whakarewarewa block, thermal springs district. The Court awarded about five-sixths of the whole area to the Government. Interests in the block to the extent of 58 acres remain in the hands of the Tuhourangi tribe, this Native reserve being close to the Geyser hotel. The portion acquired by Government includes all the geysers at the back of the hotel, and also the Spout Bath. Government intend to form drives round the sights, and it is expected that when Government acquires all this property the tolls levied will be merely nominal.
