Ou the petition of a large number of mem- ' bets, the League of Wheelmen has removed the disqualification of Megson from the end of the present month. At Bourke the thermometer to-day is 118 in the shado, and two deaths have been recoided. At Wilcannia it is 116, and there also two deaths have occurred, including Mr Thompson, chairman of the Tipla Land Board. . A large number of people are availing themselves of the cheap fares to flee coustwards. The rain is spreading inland, and there are signs of a change for the better in the sun-stricken country. Mr Cook, Postmaster-General, considers New Zealand and South Australia have made a good bargain over the Pacific cable, the former getting a direct cable, while the latter is relieved of the Port Darwin line.
