THE BRITISH NAVY.
.London, Jan. 20. It is reported that Great Britain has purchased from the Argentine Republic two cruisers, now being constructed by Sir William Armstrong at his works at Elswick. Lord Salisbury replying to Mr Olney, Attorney General of the United States, declares that the British squadron now being equipped is not destined for the Bermudas, and he is prepared to satisfy America on the point if it does not appear that he is yielding to pressure in the matter.
