A question arose as to whether the player who received the odds had also the right of choosing the. color with which he would play. The following extract from the revised laws j by the British Chess Association is published as determining the question : '• The right of making tue first move and (if either player require it) of choosing the color which shall be retained throughout the sitting; must be decided by lot." In this handicap the odds given include the move, but the choice of color must be decided as above by lot, and the color so selected is to be retained throughout the games played between the parties during the sitting, unlees in match games, when it is usual to change color every time.
