The Pacific Cable.
London, June 17. Only the Agents-General of New Zealand and Queensland will co-operate with the Agent-General of Victoria in urging the appointment of a joint commission to consider the construction of the Pacific cable. The Agents-General of South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania, and Western Australia do not, on behalf of their respective Governments, approve of the proposal. Sydney, June 19. Mr Cook, Postmaster-General, says that New South Wales took action regarding the Pacific cable long before Victoria and Queensland, although they did not invest the Agent-General with the powers afterwards conferred by Victoria on her reprentative.
