Constantinople, June 9
The Sultan has dismissed the Grand Vizier, and has appointed Turkham Pasha, President of the Armenian Commission, Foreign Minister. The Sultan is uneasy at the position affairs have reached, and is daily sending embassies and messages to the .European representatives, trying to explain that his refusal to accept the scheme of reform was only semiofficial, and that he is willing to modify his attitude. Sir P. Curriehas declined to discuss any modification. Said Pasha has been appointed Grand Vizier. St. Petersburg, June 9. The Russian press advocates an international conference to settle the Armenian difficulty. Vienna, June 9. The Pesther Lloyd urges the Triple Alliance to defend the integrity of Turkey against the coercion of the Powers, who are protesting in connection with the Armenian reforms.
