INTERPROVINCIAL.
[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, To-day. Mr W. D. Carlisle, of Woodville, who contested the Waipawa seat as an independent candidate, has been appointed editor of the Evening Press. A strong southerly gale set m on Sunday evening, accompanied by fierce rain and squalls. AUCKLAND, To-day. The Harbor Board has ordered the dynamite recovered from the wreck of the cutter Watchman, wrecked on Robinson Crusoe rock, and which was bound from Auckland to the Thames, to be dropped overboard well out at sea. The dynamite comprised about 100 cases m all, and was sufficient to blow Auckland to pieces. What rendered the explosive especially dangerous was the fact that it was so damp by contact with the water as to separate all the earth from the nitro-glycerine m the explosive. This rendered it liable to explode any moment, m fact the slightest friction would be quite sufficient to bring about a terrific explosion. NAPIER, To-day. A meeting of the unemployed, attended by 59 men, representing 109 children, was held this morning. The Mayor promised to again urge upon the Government the immediate necessity of something being done to relieve the destitution.
