Another burglary under arms has taken place at the residence of Mr David Thompson, at North Melbourne. Mr Thompson retired to lest about 11.30 last Saturday night, and placed the takings from his butchers' shops m Melrose street- (North Melbourne) between his bed and the mattress. He awoke at two o'clock, and about three- quarters of an hour afterwards was disturbed by three burglars entering his room. He seized the first comer, and was struggling with him, when another of the burglars, who was carrying a bull's-eye lantern, flashed the light m Mr Thompson's eyes, and then struck him on the face with a heavy weapon, inflicting a severe wound and knocking out two teeth. Dazed by the blow Mr Thompson let go the man, who immediately got up, and with one of his mates covered him with a revolver, whilst the third robber went deliberately and abstracted the money from where Mr Thompson had placed it under his bed. The thief also took a pair oi trousers containing 18s m silver, and then the three men disappeared. Mr Thompson thinks from tho direct way m which the robber went straight to the money that he must have been secreted m the bedroom, probably under the bed, when he retired, and afterwards crawled out and let his accomplices m.
