A singular case of superstition is reported from Gahcia. At Polynow, near Kamionka, a small farmer who was suspected of being an incendiary, has been murdered by peasants. A hug who told fortunes had declared him to be guilty. The peasants thereupon assembled m the night aud pronounced the sentence of death on him, and murdered him m sight of his terrified children. He was found dead with 10 wounds m his head and body. Thirteen peasants have been arrested and charger! with being concerned m the murder. It may interest many to know that from an artistic point of view a woman's face is more beautiful when viewed from the left than from the right.
