Judgment has been entered for Speight for £100 and costs, m accordance with the verdict of the jury m the libel against tho Age, but the money is to remain m Courc until the other issues on which the jury disagreed are decided. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Kemp, late secretary for the Treasury Tender Board, on a charge of embezzlement. The amount involved is believed to be £1000. SYDNEY, Feb. 9. Sailed : Wakatipu for Wellington. Feb. 10. — The Metropolitan colliery m the southern district has conceded a penny per ton, which is likely to be satisfactory to the miners who are now considering the offer. A meeting under the auspices of the Trades Council, to consider the unemployed question, carried a motion urging the Government to issue a quarter of a million of negotiable Treasury notes, of which thirtyfive thousand is to be expended m extending village settlement works, and the remainder on reproduction works.
