Washington, Feb. 2. — Admiral Benham has forwarded a report to the Government, stating that all the Powers interested m Brazil, with the exception of Germany, are m favor of the restoration of Monarchy. Great Britain, he said, is especially anxious m the matter. The Government has replied relying on Admiral Beuham's discretion. — The United States Government has approved the action of Admiral Benham m firing on the rebel warships, as it was necessary for the protection of commerce. — After the vote was taken on the new tariff, Mr Wilson, Chairman of Waj's and Means Committee, was carried shoulder high from the Chamber. Such a scene had never been witnessed m the House before. *^-
Madrid, January 28. — The Spanish Government has decided to introduce legislation with the view of ridding the country of brigands. A mountain band of these outlaws has captured an heiress, and will only release her on payment of a heavy ransom. *
