-« NEWSPAPER OFFICE INVADED. EDITOR AND PRINTERS HORSEWHIPPED. THE ESTABLISHMENT WRECKED. Dunedix, to-day. In conseqnence of the " Workman " publishing severe strictures on the characters o* the London Gaiety Opera Company, several members of both sexes proceeded to the office this morning and demanded an explanation. Nothing satisfactory being forthcoming, five female choristers thrashed the editor and printers present with horse-whips. They were ejected on to the street, the doors being closed in their faces, i'hey then broke the windows, smashed in the doors, and regaining admission completely wrecked the interior of the building. A free fight ensued on the street in the presence of a large crowd, in the course of whick Mr Lonneu, the head man, received a severe blow on the right eye, and one male member of the Company had his fac3 cut open. A constable then arrived, just a3 the members of this surprise party were leaving, and at the request of Mr Lister, proprietor of The Workman, four stage hands were arrested, and will be brought before the Crurt to-morrow. It is understood that a summons has also been issued against the Company, charging them with a breach of the peace. One printer was laid on the floor and had his face blacked with ink.
