[By Tkleoiuph.— Press Association.] WELLINGTON, To-day. The murder case has been adjourned till Wednesday. There is nothing new 80 far, except that Campbell, sailmaker of the Waimatse, corrected his denial at the inquest that. Finley was knocked down before the shooting began. He now says he did not sea htm fall. John. VValkley, a well-known hotelkeeper, late of Palmeraton North, died rather suddenly this morning. Ho came down by the late train laat night, aud complained of feeling unwell. He was unable to sit down and stood the whole journey, suffering from an internal complaint. He has been in indifferent health for some time. The Marina Department hswe received a telegram from Russell stating Mr Stephenson has examined : the wreckage found near Rawhiti, and reports the number on tho combing of the hatch is 7513, not 1513 as first telegraphed. He also found part of a companion measuring two feet by two, painted chocolate, and made of American pine. Four miles further on he found a portion. of cabin j Bttings, painted white and green, also a deck grating. Mr Stephenson met a number of Natives, who informed him that there whs a boat in a deep water cove. Proceeding there he found a flat-bottom punt broken up. The Natives said that a bundle of newspapers had corno ashore in tho boat, but they had destroyed them. Searching on Mr Stephenson found fragments of the Auckland Weekly Herald of 30th July, but does not think they came ashore with the wreckage, but were washed out of some river. All the wreckage came through the Hope passage, and Mr Stephenson is o^ opinion that more will be found on Redhead. The Government have ordered an inspection to be made of Redhead. AUCKLAND, To-day. A Bettler of the Upper Rangitikei district, named William Fairfield, was killed laat night on the Makirikiri road on the way home from Mnrton. The body was found on the road this morning, and death is supposed to have occurred through a dray falling over on him. At a meeting of the Clutha Presbytery a resolution was passed that attention having been called to the report that some members of Parliament had spent a recent Sunday in visiting Westport and Denniston, and otherwise turning the Lord's Day into a day of business and pleasure, this Presbytery, believing practices of this kind to be contrary to the word of God, and such as would lead to the moral and spiritual ruin of any community where they become general, express their deep regret that there should have been this violation of the law of God. They further express an earnest hope that all unnecessary labor on the Lord's Day will bo firmly discountenanced by the whole Christian community, and the Sabbath preserved inviolate for the purpose of rest and worship.
