NATIVE AFFAIRS.
PROSPECT OF LEGISLATION DOUBTFUL. DISAGREEMENT BETWEEN MR. CARROLL AND MR. CADMAN. (FROM OUR PARLIAMENTARY RKPORTER.) Wellington, to day. Enquiries from members of both parties in fche House elicit tho impression that no Native legislation whatever will be passed this session. Tt is well known that the Hons. Messrs Oadman and Carroll are in disagreement ovor the cardinal points of the Native policy, and the Native member of the Executive has introduced two Bills, the Equitable Owners Act, 1886, Amendment Bill and the Native Committee Act, 1883, Amendment Bill, which are in direct opposition to the Native Ministers Bills. None of them are expected to be pressed. Mr Oadman still expresses his intention of urging Parliament to pass tho Validation of Titles Bill, but it ia now so late in the •ession that hopes of it becoming law are very faint. Several members of the Government party state that if Mr Cad man does not make an effort and show some backbone, and he will get no one to follow him ag&irt.
