Nelson en Fete.

Nelson, Tuesday. His Excellency the Clovernor laid the foundation stone of St. John's Wcsleyan Church this afternoon. The ceremony was witnessed by about 4000 persons. The (iovernov and Lady Onslow met with a warm reception. The Rev. Mr Oliver read an address and presented his Excellency with a silver trowel, mallet, and level, and also with v casket. The (Jovernor having declared the stone well and truly laid, expressed gratification at the expression of loyalty to the (Jueen in the address, and on behalf of Lady Onslow and himself thanked the citizens for the hospitality shown to them. He alluded to the presence of the Bishop of Nelson, remarking that in this freer and happier laud, this brighter Britain, the true liberality in religions matters that was exhibited offered a good example to tho.se at Home. The ,Bishop of Nelson made an admirable speech. He said that they each had their views and adhered to them conscientiously, but they felt there were more points on which they agreed than disagreed. Remembering adverse influences at work, they followed the advice of Lord Nelson, who, when two of his commanders were at variance, said to them, " There is the enemy ; you must be friends."
