The New Zealand Exhibition.

Dim: in x, to-day. Visitors to Dumedin are very greatly surprised at the enormous area which the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition buildings cover. The applications for space have been so unexpectedly numerous that the gardens have had to be considerably dwarfed, and now the verandahs round the gardens have had to be closed in. At the approaches to the Exhibition immense hoardings have been erected, and- these are being extensively utilised for advertising purposes, much to the disgust of newspaper proprietors. The Exhibition buildings and land cover 12Ji acres, so that, with the exception of the Victoria Centennial Exhibition, this will bo tho largest yet held in Australasia. The catering has been entrusted to Mr J. Pelle, "who tendered at L 1025. The Ceremonial Committee have arranged for Saturday popular concerts right through the Exhibition period, and a number of entertainments have been got up locally. The following professionals have been engaged : — Frank Lincoln, American humorist, from 2nd Dec. to Dec. 17 ; Maccabo, from 13th January to 17th Januaiy : Prof. Kennedy, the mesmerist, 20th January to 29th Januaaiy. The Exhibition opens on 26th November, and closes on the 12th April. It is expected that the Ministiy will be represented by the Premier, Minister for Justice, and Native Minister, while 15 members of Parliament have already signified their intention of putting in an appearance. The buildings are now completely roofed in, the weather having proved most propitious indeed. The fall of rain since this work was begun has been phenomenally slight.
