The House met at half-past seven, when the Premier introduced the Governmt-nt proposals for the Ocean Mail Services, the particulars of which have been wired to you. The Live Stock Joint Committee this afternoon brought up a report on the sheep scab and rabbit pest. They pronounce a severe censure on the Loan and Mercantile Company for obstructing Sheep Inspectors. They recommend the continuance of importation of stoats and weasels, and vigorous measures in dealing with infected districts. The subject has occupied representatives all this afternoon. Scab exists in three districts only, Miranda, Tophouse and Kaikoura. To-day. The 'Frisco Service last night was carried on a division by 33 to 21. Mr Saunders' amendment that letters be carried pro rata by any mail service was lost by 33 to 24. The whole of the resolutions in respect to the Ocean Mails i were carried by 34 to 22. The Government arrange with the Sydney Government for the 'Frisco Service, LI 1,250 for which was carried on the voices. That L17,o()0 be given to the direct service was carried on the voices.
