— — »■ The H.B. Education Board met on Friday. A letter was received from the Matawhero Committee, suggesting that the Makauri residents should manage thoir own school affairs ; also asking for a shed and a cyplostyle. — r f he Board decided that the Committee be recommended to manage the Makauri school by a, aub-com-mittee ; oost of shed to be furnished ; apparatus aaked for to be prorided out of committ«e's funds. A request from the Gisborne Committee, applying for £5 for improvements to teacher's residence was declined —no funda. The Gißbornc Committee alio wrote notifying the death of Mrs Bull, headmistress, and recommending the appointments of Miss Dawaon as mistress and Miss £)vans as assistant — The appointments were confirmed. A letter was received from Tologa Bay, relative to the appointment of commissioners, no committee being in existence. — Messrs Brown and Hale were appointed. From the same, covering an offer of £15 for the old school buildings. — Not to be sold at present. Some discussion took place on a motion of the Rer. MrSidey that no officer of the Board shall make communication directly or indirectly with the Press without the permission of the Chairman. This hus arisen through correspondence ou the High Schools i|uestion which had receutly appeared from the pen of Mr Hill, Inspector to the Board.
