LONDON, Jan. 20, The Imperial Conference will be opened on March 22 next. The Times to-day states that the British evacuation of Port Hamilton, which has been ceiiud to China, took place on Sunday last. SYDNEY, To-day. Yesterutiy being Anniversary day was a public holiday. The weather, however, was wet, which considerably interfered with the public amusements. In consequence of the continuous heavy rain the rivers are rising very rapidly, and communication is interrupted at the Clarence and Richmond rivers, which have been heavily flooded. The steamer Zealandia which left Sydney yesterday afternoon for Auckland ran aground in the harbor in the vicinity of the rocks known as The Sow and Pigs. The vessel, however, waa got off at G. 30 in the evening without any damage having been done, and proceeded on her voyage. ADELAIDE, To-day. The Preussen's passengers who have remained in good health were released yesterday. Eight others still remain at the quarantine station, where they have been isolated. Accounts from Teetulpa continue discouraging, and numbers of unsuccessful diggers are leaving the field. MELBOURNE, To-day. The Commissioners of the Centennial Exhibition estimate it will cost £100,000. The Exhibition will be opened on August 1 next year, and will be kept open at night. The Commissioners have decided not to charge for space, reserving to themselves the power to reduce the space which may be granted to anyone should this be necessary. Lietters patent have been granted to the HebdenTelephoneCompany,Chrißtchurch, New Zealand. Mr John Douglas, the High Commissioner of New Guinea, who is now in this city, is conferring with Mr Gillies, the Premier, in regard to the affairs of that island. AUCKLAND, To-day. The barque Johanna Broderson, which haa arrived from Natal, brings forty-nino ostriches. One bird was accidentally killed on the voyage and six died through bad weather. Gardner's canning factory at Kaipara has been burnt down. It was insured in the Imperial for £850. A trial of Whitney's ammunition against Kynock's was greatly in favor of the former. DUNEDIN, To-day. At the half yearly meeting of the Colonial Bank the report recommending a dividend of seven per cent was adopted.
