THE BARRIER MURDER.
Wellington, to-day. The Minister of Justice received innumerable requests late on Monday night and during yesterday for the particulars of the Barrier murderers' confession, both from outside and inside Wellington. Mr Tole, however, up to last evening had not received it, and if he had he would not have disclosed anything. Such a document must first be laid before tho Governor, and in the ordinal y course it should accompany the particulars of the case and tho Judge's report. These papers have not yet been received. It will be necessary for the Governor to confer with the Executive on the fate of the convicts, so that His Excellency must either take a short trip to Wellington or the Ministers must go to Dunedin. Until this Executive meeting is held nothing can be known officially. The Minister resolutely declines to give any information on the ground that his duty in the circumstances is first to His Excellency.
