Germans accusing French of buying materials to house soldiers ! Looks as if Germany anxious to find an excuse for quarrelling ! This is just one of those little incidents that iire far more serious than what looks more important ! Europe must be in an enormous strain, and if it lasts much longer it will be more painful than actual war ! Bulgs showing still tho prudence that has characterised them all through 1 If it takes two sides to make a quarrel they are determined not to be one ! Have shown wonderful seif-restraint that would have goaded some people to madness ! Pity if people who have shown themselves so worthy should be rewarded by having their little country made a European battle ground ! But it seems only too likely ! Two great nations quarrelling about a few tish ! United States threatening Canada with reprisals because the Canadians objected to Yankees fishing over a few miles of disputed water ! What a wretched thing to quarrel about when there's more than enough fish for all parties ! Seems as if they were fools enough to want to quarrel for quarrelling sake ! Be a shame for two Anglo-Saxon nations, which scorn other States for quarrelling about trifles, to get by the ears about a few cod ! British Government going to take bull by horns ! Introducing a Bill to stop Irish brigandage, and clew up National League and boycotting ! Irish professional agitators, finding their occupation going, making desperate efforts to keep their trade afloat ! Strong-willed Cabinet will be able to restore order soon by mean 9of new law I Are doing it pretty rapidly now ! If those whose living depends on agitation are coped with, will soon be peace and order ! Four local lawyers were standing on steamer, just coming ashore ! Well, when is oil to be struck now ? Oh, a few generations hence ! Pity the spot is'n't nearer town, then might have been ten times as much work put in ! Take care ! You mus'n't speak too freely about these things ! Why not ? What's the odds ? Oh, men have been shot in America for less, and carrying revolvers isn't un known ! Not a stiver if I knows it! Well, then, what business is it of yours !
