MEETING^ OF ATHLETES. . + PHESENTATION OF FOOTBALL TROPHIES. A MEETING was held in the Masonic Hotel on Saturday night, to consider various matters in connection with out-door sports. Captain Tucker was voted to the chair, and Hist took the opportunity of presenting the two trophies (given by himself) to tho player in either club who had shown most improvement during the season. He said the object of the trophies was to induce young players to take more interest and endeavor to excel in tho game. Tho tirat, a handsome silver locket with a leg and football raised in gold on the front, was presented to Mr Arthur Wado, with suitable expressions of pleasure from the donor. The second, an equally handsome locket, Captain Tucker said would not go far from home, as he had been directed by the Committee of tho Gisborne Club to present it to his son, Mr Henry Tuckta-. Messrs G. Arundel and Bourn (Captains of the respective clubs) warmly thanked Captain Tucker, Mr Bourn remarking that tlioy had considerable difficulty in adocting the recipient on

N. Jones, and C. Dasent, was appointed to make enquiries in the matter and report at a meeting on the following Saturday.
