THE SAMOAN QUESTION
Wellington, to-day,
The Samoan representatives left for Auckland last evening, and intend taking passage for Samoa per the San Francisco mail steamer Mariposa which leaves Auckland on Tuesday next. Yesterday evening the Samoan chiefs received a letter from His Excellency the Governor, at Christchurch, in which he acknowledges the receipt of a communication from the delegates in which they submit the proposals for the annexation of Samoa to New Zealand. Sir William Jervois also mentions in the letter that he had transmitted to the British Imperial authorities the representations made to him by tho Samoans at their recent interview in Wellington and he gives the assurance that immediately on receipt of official despatches he will communicate with the Samoan principals.
