WAIROA RACES.
At the meeting of the Stewards last Thursday evening the action of Mr Evetfe in not forwarding the weights by the advertised hour on the 16th, to the Wairoa, where, according to the notification, the weights were to be declared, caused considerable comment, several members expressing themselves very strongly at such inexcusable neglect. Resolved — ' ' That Mr Evett be written to, and informed that the Club was greatly inconvenienced and annoyed by his not forwarding the weights in time to be declared at the advertised hour and date." Mr W. Y. Dennett, owner of Steeldust, wired, accepting with that horse for the Handicap Hurdles and Maiden Plate. Subsequently he again wired, countermanding the above, but the meeting generally considered that it was too late to withdraw the acceptance.
