MR JOHN MCGREGOR, C.B.
Oamaru Harbor Board, Oct. 28, 1884— As suggested by you the other day, when I had the pleasure of meeting you in Wellington, I write to inform you that if the opportunity occurs to yon 1 shall feel obliged by your submitting my name to the Gisborne Harbor Board as Engineer for carrying out the proposed harbor works. The experience I have acquired during the last twelve years in designing and carrying out the Oamaru Harbor works to successful completion would, I think, be of some value in connection with similar works in Gisborne ; and I may say that there are very few docks or harbor works constructed in the colony of any magnitude but what I have been professionally connected with directly or indirectly, and, as I told you, have just been appointed Consulting Engineer, for the New Plymouth harbor works. — Yours faithfully, John McGregor.
