Compulsory for winners ; losers and hacks optional. Distance, 1 mile and a distance. RULES AND REGULATIONS. No entry will be received for any race except upon the condition that all claims, disputes, and objections arising shall be decided by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint, and their decision upon all points shall be final. All protests must be accompanipfl with a deposit of 5 soys., which snm shall be forfeited to the funds if the protest is not sustained. All nominations, entries, acceptances, etc., accompanied by the necessary amount, must be addressed to the Secretary, and left at the Masonic Hotel, Gisborne, not later than 8 p.m. on tho several specified dates. Any owner failing to declare his color at time of entry will be fined 2 soys. Any jockey riding in colors excepting those entered will be fined 2 soys. All horses must be ridden in colors, any joukey infringing this rule will be fined 2 soys. General entry night, Tuesday, 13th January, 1885. The rules and weights of the Poverty Bay Bay Turf Club, as in force at the date of the meeting, will be strictly adhered to. Five per cent, will be deducted from the gross amount of all stakes. Horses walking over will receive 50 per cent, of the stakes. The winner of any race of the value of 100 soys. and over, after the declaration of weights, to carry 51bs. extra ; and the winner of any race of 200 soys. and over to carry 7lbs. extra in the Tradesmen's and Tauranga Stakes Handicap.
