THE FORTHCOMING HOSPITAL FETE.

Wr. have been requested by the Secretaries to the Hospital Sports Committee to state 1 that no entrance fee will be charged the competitors in boats belonging to the Rowing Club who will take part in the Porter's Cup race. This change from the decislqpof the Hospital Committee has been made in order to comply with the wish of Captain Porter, who has generously given five valuable prizes to be competed for by the Rowing Club, On St. Andrew's day, under the auspices of the Hospital Sports. The rowing match being one of the principal features in connection with the above sports, it is to be regretted such a false step was made by the Committee in deciding to charge the paltry Bu{n af 5s entrance for each boat, more especially as the Rowing Club had been asked long before Captain Porter decided to give the cups, and agreed to co-operate in making the sports a success. We hear that in connection with the sports the volunteers intend firing for Government prizes with shot and shell, on the ground, distance of target 1500 yards, firing to take place at 2 o'clock. This, indeed, will be a novelty to many people, and we predict a jolly day for the public. Those solicited have been most liberal in responding to the call made upon them for prizes, as will be seen by the published Hot. A fall programme will be submitted in to-morrow's issue, which, w^ believe, will be the most attractive yflfl offered to the public.
