One Dnke owns 96,000 acres in Dprhyshir^, Vmsides vsist estates in other parts of England and in Ireland. Another, with estates all over the United Kingdom, has 40,000 acres in Sussex and 300,000 acres in Scotland. This nobleman's park is. fifteen miles in circumference. Another Duke lims estates which the high road divides for twenty-three miles. A Mnrqnis there is who can ride a hundred miles in a straight line upon his own land. Thore is a Duke who owns almost an entire country strernliin'sr from soa to sea. An Earl draws £200 000 every y«ar from his estates in Lancashire. A Duke resularly invests £80,000 a year in buying un lands adjoining his already enormous estates. A Marquis en}ov« £1,000.000 a vear from land. An Earl lately died, leaving to his heirs £1.000 000 sterling, and £160,000 a year innnm»» from land. The income from land derived from one ducal family of England is £1,600,000 ■which is increasing ev^ry year by the falling in of leases. One hundred and fifty persons own half Em/land 75 own half Scotland, 35 own h=<lf Ireland, ami all the lands of England, Scotland. Wa'ea and Ireland are owned bv less than 60.000 pprsons. and they say to tho remaining 32,000.000 people : " All tin's land of Great BHt - »m and Ireland was given to the children of men, and behold we are the Lord's children in possession, and you millions you go to work."
