WRECK OF THE PEARL.

The ketch Pearl, owned by Mr. R. G. Gibbous, left Napier ou the 4th inst. for this port. Ou the sth sho was caught m the north, east gale which prevailed along this coast. Sho obtained shelter under Long Point, Mahia. The wind then suddenly chopped round to the south-we3t, when the Pearl parted from her anchor, and went ashore, becoming immediately a total wreck. She was surveyed, and the wreck sold for £2 53. It has since been ascertained that nothing can be saved, the vessel having gone to. pieces, and her timbers scattered along the coast. A private letter from Mr. E. Bendall states :— "I never saw it blow harder than it did on the day of the wreck." Mr. Gibbons had insurance on the vessel of £250, which will not nearly cover his loss.
