This Day. j The excitement at Normanby is intense. Business is neglected, and everybody busy erecting blockhouses. The settlers are armed and getting organised. * There are several houses m Normanby that can be converted into blockhouses, on a plan arranged by Major Noakes, by digging trenches and raising breastworks. Here m Hawera business is attended to as usual. Drills are being held at night time. Some pf the most exposed settlers have arranged for their families sleeping m town.
