COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.

At the special meeting of the Cook County Council, held at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, there were present Councillors Locke (m the chair), Porter, McKay, fteeves, and Villers. After a somewhat lengthy discussion arising out of certain informalities previously mentioned m the report of last meeting, the business for which councillors had met, viz. , of confirming the yearly statement of receipts and expenditure, and the reception of the Auditors' Report was proceeded with. On the motion of Councillor Porter it was proposed — "That the balance-sheet as submitted be adopted and confirmed as being a true statement of account for the year terminating March 31st, 1879. Seconded by Councillor Reeves and carried. The auditors' report was next considered, and on the motion of Councillor Porter, seconded by Councillor McKay, it was proposed and carried unanimously — "That m pursuance of the ]04th section of the Counties Act, all sums of money exceeding £10 be paid into the Bank every Saturday, and that the Bank-book be balanced weekly. Proposed by Councillor Porter and seconded by Councillor Villers, — " That on the yearly and half yearly days of furnishing returns, balances m the Treasurer's hands be paid into the Bank." All "the other suggestions of minor importance made by Mr. Kenrick County auditor, were adopted on the resolution of the Council. j The next meeting was fixed for Friday 9th J«ne, at 7.30. p.m.
