A fearful accident occurred near Tien Tain, says a Hong Kong telegram jln the Bombay papers, through the capiszing of the Peninsula and Oriental Oo.'s old steamer Aden. She was used as a hulk ; and a large quantity of cargo had been stowed all on one side cf her tween decks. Suddenly she gave a lurch, filled and went over. There were about 120 coolies on board of her at the time, and 52 of them were drowned. A facetious contemporary says that a St. Louis belle who slipped on the banks of the Mississippi and submerged her feet, is said to have clammed the river. That's nothing. A pious looking old gentleman slipped on a piece of orange peel opposite the office yesterday, and there was nothing on earth that he didn't damn. PROTESTANS SCHOOL IN ROME. A letter from the Cardinal Vicar is published, complaining bitterly of the existence m Rome of Protestant schools, supported chiefly by foreign money. It announces that the Pope has appointed a Vigilance Committee to increase and improve Catholic schools, and appeals to the nobility and the clergy to subscribe for their support.
