WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
PARIROA BRANCH The Faiiiroa Maori Women's Institute members held their monthly meeting at the Pa last week. Those present were Mesdames Kershaw, Tamaka, Hcrcmaia, Andrews, Raugitonga, Pokau, Ygnru, Akcrama, Ciapham and Louie, and Misses Tupito, Hyland and Louie. An apology tor absence was received from Airs. Morris. Two competitions were arranged, namely a Christmas hamper and a goose, to raise funds for a Christmas free for the Pariroa Pa children. A teaset, given by the president, Airs. Kershaw, was competed for, the winner being Aliss E. Cate. Miss Hyland, of the Ka.karamca School, was welcomed as a now member. A scone-baking competition was won by Airs. Hcrcmaia, Airs. Andrews being second and Airs. Raugitonga third. Airs. Tamaka and Miss Hyland brought attractive samples of wool work on sugar-sacking, and demonstrated the s/tches. Very enjoyable action songs and poetry wore given by the Alaori members. A pleasant evening concluded with 1 llic National Anthem, after a tasty supper had been served by the hostesses, Airs. Raugitonga and Airs. Pokau.
