NEW ZEALANDER KILLED
A TARANAKI BOY GRANDSON OF THE LATE ADAM SARGENT Advice was received last week from the British Air Ministry that FlyingOfficer Desmond Charles Carter, son of Mr. and Airs, E. E, Carter, of Eltham and grandson of the late Air. Adam Sargent, had been killed in action. No details of the manner in which Flyiug.-Officer Garter met his death wore available, but Lis parents hope to know more about the circumstances shortly. One of Eltham’s most popular boys he was educated at the Eltham primary school and the New Plymouth Boys’ High School. Keen to join the air force, he tried first in New Zealand and then at London after working his passage? to England. Ti c deceased was a member of n fighting squadron, and joined the E.A. F. in December, 1037, and prior to the outbreak of war was an instructor at a training school in England.
