LADIES’ CLUB As the winter season concludes this month, men libers are asked no'ti to delay matches, and to make an effort to fill up their eclectic cards. On Wednesday a medal round will be played, the draw taking place at tlhe clubhouse. The following matches must! be played this week, or will be drawn for by the committee: Mrs. Mcßae and Miss Gibson; Mrs. Cardiff and Mrs. Smith; Mrs. Horner and Miss Hurley; Mrs. Palmer and Mrs. Gray; Miss Gibbs and Miss Clarke; Mrs. Gillon and Mrs. Carey; Miss Wilson and Miss Carey; Mrs. Carey and Miss Clarke; Mrs. Horner and Mrs. Goun ;ss; Miss O’Reilly and Mrs. Priest.
LAW SOCIETY’iS TOURNAMENT Over 70 competitors took part in the Palmerston North Law Society’s seventh “Devil’s Own” golf tournament, which concluded after three days’ play at the Manawatu Golf Club’s Hokowhitu links last week. H. W. Ivirkby and W. Middleton represented New Plymouth at the tournament, both qualifying in the “Destitute Persons’ ” event. W. Middleton went to the . final- where he was defeated by R. McKenzie, Masterton. The “Devil’s Own” Cup was won by J. Grant, Palmerston North, C. Dougall, Christchurch, being runnerup. Tlhe Mortgagors’ Rehabilitation Stakes w r as won by A. Lawry, .the run-uer-up being Mr. H. Orami, Palmerston North. A. M. Goulding, Wellington, won the Paupers’ Appeal Stakes, while Burusc, Hawera, was second in a bogey match.
