WAR AVERTED AGREEMENT SIGNED SHORTLY after midnight on Friday Mr. Neville Chamberlain, M. Daladier, Herr Hiller and Signor Mussolini signed an agreement for the cession to Germany of Sudeten German territory. The C/.ecli Government subsequently accepted the terms. SOVEREIGNTY PRESERVED t( ie French Prime Minister, M. Daladier, interviewed, said: “The agreement substantially approximates the Louden accord. Had there been any question threatening the sovereignty of Czechoslovakia I would resolutely have refused to consider any further negotiations. The map drawn to-day differs from the Godesberg map. For a long time I wrestled with the Fuhrer regarding certain methods, such as Hue plebiscite touching the Bratislava region. Finally Herr Hitler said: ‘You have been eo earnest I agree with your view:’” ■ Mr. Chamberlain said: “I have explained to the Czech delegates the terms of the agreement and went thoroughly into why we reached. I ssiire you I have done my best."
