MR. W. GRANT. The local grading staff of the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture foregathered at the grading store on Friday afternoon to bid farewell to the chief grader, Mr. William Grant, who has been promoted to the position of supervising grader for the Benth Island. Mr. R. M. Btcvcnp, in a feeling speech, referred ty the regret felt by each and every member of the staff at Mr. Grant’s departure. During the whole time lie had been with them their relations with him had been of the happiest, and they felt they could not let him depart without some tangible evidence of their regard for him. They therefore asked him to accept a case of pipes and a fountain pen with their very best wishes for his future welfare and happiness. Mr. F. Parsons, chairman of directors of the West Coast Refrigerating Company, also expressed regret at Mr. Grant’s departure, and asked him to accept a cheque from the company ns a slight mark of their appreciation of his work on behalf of the dairy farmers of the Bouth Taranaki district. He wished him every happiness in the future.

Mr, A. Illingworth also spoke on behalf of the South Taranaki Dairy Factory Managers’ Association, and tendered their best wishes to Mr. Grant for the future. Mr. Grant, in reply, thanked the speakers for their very kind remarks and for their very handsome gifts. Ho could assure them that he would not forget them and the happy time ho had spent in Patca. Though he was going to tho other island, ho hoped to sec them when he was on holiday. He again thanked them for their kind wishes on his behalf. ■Those present then sang "For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow” and “Auld Lang Sync.”
