The many friends cf Mr. C. A. Larcombc will be glad to learn that he is making steady progress towards recovery, although still confined to his bed.
M. Aristide Briand, the famous French statesman, died at his Paris heme on March 8, following a heart attack. His death is profoundly regretted in Loudon, where he had many friends.
The death is reported from Sydney of Sir Alfred Meeks, aged 83. Sir Alfred had been chairman of the Australian Mutual Provident Society since 1906. Formerly ho was a senior partner of Gibbs, Bright, and Company, and was closely identified with leading philanthropic movements in Sydney.
The many friends of Mr. Walter G. Jones will regret to learn that he is at present lying seriously ill at Wanganui.
Miss Pearce has returned to Whenuakura from Dunedin, where her eyesight was much benefited by treatment,
Mr. J. Pascoe is at present an inmate of the Patca Hospital. His many friends will wish him a speedy recovery from his illness.
The Rev. A. W. Payne, who was for some time vicar of St. George’s CJuirch, Palea, and subsequently warden of St. John’s College, Tamaki, left for England on Tuesday.
