PATEA HOSPITAL BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of' the Patca Hospital Board was held yesterday, Mr. C. E. Honey field presiding. Messrs. J. Lupton, K. G. Scown, E. J, Watt, A. T. Christenson, W. Back, C. E. Johnston, and W. H. Watkins were also present. Leave of absence was granted Mr. H. Middleton. ADVANCE OF £4OO SUBSIDY. The Director General of Health wrote stating that an advance of £4OO on subsidy would be made in view of the probable deficit at the close of the financial year. The letter was received. LETTER OF THANKS. Mr. E. F. Warren wrote thanking the beard for their expression of sympathy with him in the loss of his wife. The letter was received, the chairman's action in connection with the matter being endorsed. COLLECTION OP ACCOUNTS. The secretary of the Egmont Trade Association wrote asking for suggestions with regard to the collection of accounts. The matter was left in the hands of the chairman, secretary, and Mr. Christenson to look into and report at next meeting. ACCOUNTS WRITTEN OFF. The sum of £4462 0s 9d iu outstanding accounts for the past nine years was written off in accordance with 1 the committee's recommendation. The amounts for the various, years werojis follows: —1921, £9 14s; 1922, £SB 3sf 1923, £94 8s lid; 1924, £l4l 0s 6d; 1925, £163 9s 1 Gd; 1926, £449 2s 6d; 1927, £462 14s 6d; 1928, £1471 4s lOd; 1929, £1742 3s. BOAED OF HOSPITALS. The secretary of the Hospital Boards’ Association wrote stating that the president had interviewed the Prime Minister and the Minister cf Health uvgr.g that no legislation be introduced .vith regard to the setting up of a 3oard of Hospitals without the matter being first fully considered by the individual boards. The letter was received. MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT'S EEPOET. Dr. W. T. Simmons reported as follows: Patients in hospital at beginning of month, 6 males, 11. females, total 17; admitted, 5 males, 8 females, total 13; discharged, 2 males, 10 females, total 12; died, 1 male, 2 females, total 3; remaining, 8 males, 7 females, total 15. The report was adopted. MATKON’S EEPOET. Miss N. Kelly reported as follows: Nurse Drayton has passed her hospital examination with credit, and will sit for her State examination early in June. Nurses Soundy and Kettles start their cooking classes on Thursday next. The stock-taking of the hospital and Nurses’ Home is now completed, and everything is iu good order. The outside painting of woodwork, roof, etc., of the hospital is nearly completed and is a great improvement to the building. GENEEAL. It was resolved that the balance of loan money due by the board to the Public Trustee be paid off. The secretary reported there is nothing iu the nature of capital expenditure for the ensuing year. The visiting committee reported that everything at the hospital was in good order. It was decided to have the wood shed and laundry painted, the matter being left iu the hands of the chairman.

It was decided to make a progress payment of £75 to Mr. K. M. Willis, who was carrying out the painting at die hospital. Messrs. A. T. Christensen and E. J. Watt wore appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing month. Accounts were passed fer payment and the board then rose.
