Mr. W. B. Reilly, of the clerical staff of the Patea railway station, left yesterday pa transfer to Wanganui. Mr. Reilly will be greatly missed from the local Golf Club. A presentation was made by the residents of Gastlccliff on Monday evening to Mr. A. B. Currie, postal official, at the seaside office, who has been transferred to Patea on promotion. The Mayor of Wanganui, Mr. W. -7. Rogers, who was also accompanied by the Mayoress, in making a presentation of a cheque for an amount subscribed by the district, referred to the popularity of ill-. Currie who, during his seven years in the district had gained the respect ami confidence of the community. Ho had taken an interest in every movement for the advancement of the district, and his departure was regretted, although they were pleased he was going up the ladder. A large gathering of members of the Officers’ Club'bade farewell at Auckland to .Lieutenant 11. S. .Tudson, V.C., D.C.M., M.M., N.Z.S.C., who is being transferred as adjutant of the Taranaki Kegiiiient with headquarters at New Plymouth. LicutenantColouel T. H. Dawson, the president, expressed the great regret of all at Lieutenant .Tudson’s departure. After Lieutenant-Commander Palmer, of the Naval Deserve, hud added a warm tribute in the name of that unit the president handed to Lieutenant Jndson a gold watch as a mark of the regard in which he was held. In reply, the most decorated man in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force displayed a little nervousness. , He mentioned that he had hold a commission only for a brief period before ho became a member of the club and there he had been honoured and aided by his association with many fine officers, whoso friendship had been of the greatest use to him.
