CALF CLUB COMPETITIONS

SUPPORT FROM FARMERS ’ UNION SHIELD TO BE OBTAINED. At a. meeting of the Wanganui Farmers ’ Union hold on Wednesday Mr. E. A. Aiken (Wavcrlcy) asked members to consider the question of making a grant for a shield to be competed for by members of School Calf Clubs throughout the Wanganui Education board’s district. Mr. Aiken also stated that he had already received contributions from the Wavcrlcy A. and R. c and j the. Kakaramca Agricultural and Sports Association.. On the motion of Mr. W. Morrison, seconded by Mr. A. P. Melville, it was unanimously resolved that a sum not exceeding £1 Is be granted. The shield, which will be procured immediately, will be competed for by schools and not by individual pupils, - lie calves being judged first at the schools and later at a show, the winner of the shield being the school gaining most points in' ftho school and show judgings.
