OBITUARY.
ME. JOHN HEEBEET
The many friends of Mr. John Herbert will regret to learn of his death, which took place at the local hospital on Saturday, at the ripe ago of DO ■years. The deceased, who had enjoyed exceptionally good health up to a few days ago, was a very old settler of this district, being for many years in business in the town. Tor some time past, in spite of his advanced years, he almost daily set out to walk from Kakaramca, and many motorists will miss his genial hail as they stopped to give him a, lift on his # ’journey. The deceased, who was born in London, came to Patca 47 years ago, and after a residence of some seven years, left to take up farming in the Woodville district, but a year later returned to Patca, and was for some years engaged in farming at Hurlcyville. Returning to the town for a second time he re- ( mained for many years afterwards, retiring to Kakaramca, where he lived in .retirement up to the time of his death. During the years he lived in the town he boro his share of public w:erk, being a valued .member of the Borough Council, Hospital Board, and other public bodies. He was a keen and enthusiastic member of the local Bowling Club, playing regularly up to last season. Possessed of a genial and breezy disposition he made for himself a host of friends, by whom he will bo greatly missed. The funeral will take place at the Patca Cemetery at 2.130 p.m. to-day.
