A team of seven players journeyed to the Wavcrlcy links on Saturday last to try conclusions with the Waverley representatives. After an enjoyable afternoon they returned defeated by five matches to two, the following being the scores:—
The final players for the Club Championship, over 3(5 holes, were Messrs 'VVybournc and Muir, the latter winning a well-deserved victory, his score for the morning round being 71)—one less than bogey. The follow!Jig Wavcrlcy players will compete in the Wanganui Tournament, to be held on the Gth, 7th and Bth of thi s month: —Messrs R. Wybourne, W. Muir, y. Aitken, E. Parsons, F. Johnston and K. Palmer. Patea will bo represented by Messrs W. Jones and H. Bradmore. A Flag Match will bo played on the local links on Saturday, when members of the Wavcrlcy Club arc invited to join in the play. The number of strokes allowed each player is: Bogey equal 78 plus player’s handicap. (A 20 handicap man plays 08 strokes and plants his flag.) The Patea Club deeply regret the loss of Mr C. Strouts, who has been vice-president of the club for the last nine years.
