MR MASSEY DEPARTS
FOR IMPERIAL CONFERENCE The Prime Minister (Eight Hon. W. P. Massey) left by the Tahiti at 10.10 last night for San Francisco, en route for London, to attend the Imperial Conference. He was accompanied by Mr F. D. Thomson, G.M.GK, private secretary, and Mr H. T. B. Drew, Government Publicity Officer. Mr Massey' was given an enthusiastic send-off by a large gathering, comprising Cabinet Ministers, members of Parliament and citizens. He expects to reach England early in October, and he may return to New Zealand, early in the New Tear. During bis absence, Sir Frencis Bell will be Acting Prime Minister, and the Hon. Downie Stewart Minister of Finance. • \
