THE VEGETABLE GARDEN Plant potatoes when ground is ready. Choose well worked and well drained land. Sow dwarf peas; also a few of a second early variety. Clean and manure asparagus beds. Trench and jjrcparc ground for runner beans. Sow lettuce, radish, carrots, leeks, cabbage and cauliflower. Plant out cabbage, cauliflower and leeks. jg* Get all vacant and weedy ground turned over. Prepare ground for onion planting. Plant new rhubarb beds. THE BLOWER GARDEN Continue rose planting; the season is getting on. Manure and dig the rose beds, after pruning. Use well-rotted stable or cow manure for roses, if obtainable. Sow annuals in boxes or pots for transplanting later. Continue the planting of herbaceous plants, such as perennial phlox, Michaelmas daisies, etc. Push on with the planting of shrubs and trees. Plant a few gladioli; they are inexpensive and make a fine show. Do not use any fresh manure when planting gladioli. Lawns that arc ready for sowing should be raked and the seed sown as soon as possible. Take chrysanthemum cuttings or offsets. Plant in sandy soil till they have made roots. Look over dahlia roots; sec that none are rotting. Plant pansies, primroses, Canterbury bells, aquilegias, nemesia.
