PATEA S.M. COURT.
ORDINARY SITTING. The ordinary monthly sitting of the Patca S.M. Court was held on Friday before Messrs G. Williams and A. T. Christensen, J. 'sP,, in the absence of Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., who is at present laid aside through illness. FOUL BROOD. Ernest J. Booth was charged on two informations with failing to comply with a direction by Mr H. W. Gilling inspector under the Apiaries Act, to take such’measures as may be necessary to cure the disease of foul brood. Mr Gilling appeared in support of thy information. The defendant, who pleaded not guilty stated that ho received notice from the Department and removed one hive and destroyed it. He left word at the house to tell the inspector what he had done and left him some blue raddle to mark any other . hives. The whole of the work was done before he had received the eummons.
In reply to the Bench defendant stated it was his first offence. Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay costs. 7/_ no fine being im. posed. . CIVIL OASES, Judgment by default was given in the following cases.— Patea Hospital Board v. J. Campbell, claim for £5/5/-. v Same v. R, Andrew, claim s for £6/6/-. £6/6/-. Same v. A. Cadman, claim for £1 11/6.
